Connect Apple Health or Health Connect

How to sync workouts, steps and sleep from your phone with CatLena, on iPhone (Apple Health) and Android (Health Connect).

CatLena syncs workouts, steps and sleep from your phone's health platform: Apple Health on iPhone and Health Connect on Android. CatLena only reads this data and does not record information in the platform.

How to enable

  1. In the CatLena app, open Settings and tap Connections.
  2. In the Apple Health (iPhone) or Health Connect (Android) block, enable the data you want: Workouts, Steps and Sleep.
  3. Authorize access on the system permission screen.
  4. Syncing happens when you enable the data, when you open the app and when you tap Sync now.

Where the data comes from

The data available depends on what your apps and devices record in the health platform. Not every watch sends all information.

  • iPhone: Apple Watch records directly in Apple Health. For other watches, enable sharing with Apple Health in the manufacturer's app (for example, Garmin Connect).
  • Android: enable syncing with Health Connect in the manufacturer's app (for example, Samsung Health, Garmin Connect, Fitbit or Mi Fitness).
  • On Android, the first sync covers the last 30 days; on iPhone, the last 90 days. Data already synced remains in CatLena.

Workouts: a single source

Workouts are imported from a single connection, to avoid duplicate records. Enabling Workouts in Apple Health or Health Connect disables workout import from Strava, and vice versa.

How to disable

Under Settings › Connections, disable each data type or tap Disable. Data already synced remains in your account. Permissions can also be revoked in the system settings.
